Why should YOU get involved in undergraduate research?
Undergraduate research experience is a valuable learning experience and a great way to gain additional skills. Also, involvement in undergraduate research is one of the most important factors influencing admission to graduate school.
How do I become a member of the AAYD Research Laboratory?
Typically, students enroll in Psych 399 (Independent Study) or equivalent course. If you are interested in gaining research experience and working in the AAYD Lab, please complete and email the application form to the AAYD Research Lab at psycaayd@mailbox.sc.edu.

The Office of Undergraduate Research seeks to enrich the academic experience of all USC undergraduates by providing research and scholarly experiences in their chosen fields. The office promotes inquiry, discovery, and creativity in all disciplines through faculty-student mentoring relationships and the integration of instruction with research, scholarship, and creative activities.
The Magellan Scholar program was created to enrich the academic experience of USC's undergraduates through research opportunities in all disciplines from science, technology, and medicine, to theatre, music, and art. By providing access to faculty mentoring relationships and a professional research experience, this program enables students to creatively explore their interests at a more in-depth level than can be attained in the classroom. The Magellan Scholar program provides opportunities for undergraduates to build a competitive edge in the job market.
Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program
The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program helps TRIO-eligible undergraduates to prepare for and pursue graduate degrees. The program seeks to expand educational opportunities for first-generation college students, disabled students, and students from families with low-income. The program includes a six-week summer research component, faculty mentoring, and research experiences.
